The New York Giants have not had the best start to the season and that is being nice about it, as the team is 0-3 after losing to the Carolina Panthers 38-0 nothing and the offense is sputtering despite scoring 50 points in their first two games.
The Giants were a legitimate embarrassment on Sunday, going into a game at 0-2 against a fellow 0-2 team that looked bad and they just..were terrible. The offense did nothing, Eli Manning did not have any time to pass and now he has eight interceptions and five touchdowns in three games, including the zero he threw on Sunday to go along with a season-low 119 yards. The Giants may not even get to .500 let alone the playoffs and making matters even more embarrassing, the team plays the 3-0 Chiefs next. On the road. In Arrowhead. One of the hardest places to play on the road.
Manning threw for just 119 yards on 12 of 23 passes and this came after he threw for 450 and 362 yards in the first two losses this season. Good numbers, but in the context of the games they were just terrible. He has completed under 65 percent of his passes in every game and this week, Manning was outgained by many other quarterbacks that are not considered as talented as he is, including Geno Smith, Brian Hoyer, Jake Locker, Andrew Luck and Ben Roethlisberger and fellow 2004 draftee Philip Rivers.
But the most embarrassing is this: Even Seattle backup Tarvaris Jackson had more passing yards than Manning, throwing for 129 and a touchdown in garbage time against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Manning is better than this, we all know that, but when will the Giants get it together if they even do at all?
Here's a look at some of those other quarterbacks from Week 3:
Brian Hoyer led the Browns to a victory against the Vikings to send Minnesota to 0-3 and he made the most of his time, passing for 321 yards and three touchdowns on the day, hitting Jordan Cameron for each of those scores. Now is Hoyer better than Manning? Obviously not, but the awful Browns without Trent Richardson looked a lot better than the Giants, who had all their stars on the field Sunday.
Geno Smith showed off some skills and showed why he was the right choice for the Jets, as he threw for over 330 yards in the win over Buffalo. Some other names that passed for more than manning included nearly every starting quarterback in the league - wait - I mean literally every starting quarterback in the league passed for more yards than Manning on Sunday.
COME on Giants. What's up with that?
