As the New Orleans Saints continue their surge to NFC dominance, much of the success can be pinpointed to tight end Jimmy Graham.
In just three of the Saints regular season games Graham has accumulated 358 receiving yards and four touchdowns, but at this moment in time still has yet to come to an agreement on a new contract with the franchise.
Graham is currently in his final season of his rookie deal and there have been reports that talks have been leading nowhere. Considering that he was drafted in the same year as Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez, whom both received long-term extensions, the situation is beginning to look bleak.
However, Graham will just have to wait the situation out and see how it all pans out. Just last season the Saints waited as long as possible to secure quarterback Drew Brees to a multi-year deal.
Brees received his deal after the Saints applied the exclusive version of the quarterback franchise tag.
Graham will likely be given the non-exclusive version of the tight end franchise tag. That will set the stage for whether he'll be considered a tight end or a receiver.
If he continues to remain healthy, he'll likely be given the tag, especially he conquers the question of whether he's worthy of a receiver franchise tag.
