New York Giants Rumors: Tom Coughlin Calls Hakeem Nicks' Post-Game Comments'Not Very Smart' As Wide Receiver Seeks Contract Extension

The New York Giants are off to a rough 0-3 start after being humbled 38-0 by the Carolina Panthers this past Sunday.

As frustration seeps in within the locker room, wide receiver Hakeem Nicks' comments after the loss didn't help his campaign for an extended contract deal as he's currently in his final year of his contract.

Nicks' frustration after being targeted just once in the game was apparent in his post-game comment with the press.

"I can't throw the ball to myself," he said after the game.

That one line didn't hold to well with Giants' head coach Tom Coughlin, who later indicated that there would be some type of scolding or punishment heading Nicks' way.

"I'll talk to him," Coughlin said Monday. "That's not a smart thing to say. He's on the field. The quarterback was sacked seven times, hit fifteen times. Not a very smart thing to say. I'll talk to him about it, sure."

. Nicks is in the final year of a five-year, $12.5 million contract he signed as a rookie. Health has been an issue for him, but now that he's on the field, he needs to focus on piling up the catches, both for himself and the team.
