"The Book of Manning" airs on ESPN and there is a live stream available, for free, online. At 8 p.m. ET, witness the story of the Manning family that has changed the way football is played and the definition of clutch. Were the Mannings meant to be a football family? Find out if they can answer all your questions on E:60's documentary airing tonight.
While writing or reading the title of the documentary, one might easily say "The Book of Eli," but that's not the case here. Even though Eli has been the most successful Manning in the Super Bowl, we can't single out just one Manning to tell the story. The documentary is being promoted as the story of all four, as seen in the family portraits all over the commercials.
Why all four when only three played football?
Think about it. If there are three brothers and only one did not end up playing football professionally, should there not be an interesting story behind what appears to be a mistake or mishap? Cooper Manning never hit the field as a professional, but he did play football and he does appear in footages as the sports world mainly focuses on Eli and Peyton's head-to-head childhood confrontations.
The world will not get another Manning Bowl tonight, instead, they will get a closer look at two of this generation's best quarterbacks. Peyton, the surgeon, who can demoralize any opponent within the opening minutes of a game. Then there's Eli who can trail for an entire game, but if he has the ball in the final minutes, he is capable of completing drivers that leave his team on top and his opponents wondering what just took place.
Then there is Archie, the father, who is living vicariously through his sons as he was never able to win a championship when he quarterbacked in the NFL.
How has each Manning played a role in the life of the next Manning? We will find out tonight.
