Just a week ago it was reported that New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski was 50-50 to play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but ultimately didn't play.
In fact he was inactive.
However, this week Gronkowski participated in practices on limited basis both on Wednesday and Thursday but his status for Sunday remains to still be determined. According to a league source the outlook of him playing is currently optimistic.
Gronkowski is currently listed as having both arm and back injuries but it's speculated that the back surgery he underwent in June was primary impediment but some have reported that the twice-broken and then his infected forearm became the bigger problem.
Even though he's practiced, Gronkowski has been listed as questionable before each of the Patriots first two games. It's clear that his appearance in a game is soon approaching and it will certainly help a struggling offense.
If he doesn't play by Week 6 the Patriots would be better off leaving him listed on the physically unable to perform list and thus freeing up the roster spot for someone else.
For now Gronkowski is once again going to be listed as questionable and his status remains under wraps until 90 minutes before game time on Sunday night in Atlanta when the inactive players are named.
