Here's a quick preview of the Monday night football game from Week 4 and the projections for the Saints and Dolphins. The NFL season is now a quarter of the way through the schedule and with one game left to go on Monday Night Football, the New Orleans Saints and the Miami Dolphins are both looking to remain undefeated after going 3-0 to start the year.
The 49ers started the week off with a victory over the St. Louis Rams and there were plenty of other good games this weekend, including a surprising win for the Cleveland Browns over the Bengals, while the Chiefs continued the misery for the Giants, putting them at 0-4 this season with another bad loss. The Saints are coming into the game on Monday night with some momentum at their backs after a nice 31-7 win against the Cardinals at home and the team has been able to get very comfy, as three of their first four games were at the Superdome.
The Saints have Drew Brees leading the way while the Miami Dolphins have Ryan Tannehill and both quarterbacks will be looking to put up numbers on the fast turf at the dome. Brees has continued working hard after his record season in 2012 and he already has the Saints ranked first in the NFL in passing yards per game and he also has passed for over 300 yards in each of the three games, although he has just six touchdowns so far.
Brees and Jimmy Graham have continued to link up on a consistent basis, as the athletic tight end leads the team with 23 catches for 358 yards and four of Brees' six TDs while also getting the most targets at 38. The team needs players like Darren Sproles and Pierre Thomas to step up from the running game and Brees will be looking for Marques Colston as well, since he will play despite dealing with a foot injury. The WR is second on the team with 202 yards and 21 targets and he comes into the game with 14 catches this season.
Tannehill has gotten some fantastic play from Brian Hartline at receiver and the Dolphins clearly made a good move when bringing him back to re-sign, as he has 18 catches this season for 238 yards and two scores, leading the team over Charles Clay and Mike Wallace. Clay has been a factor since Dustin Keller went down in the preseason and he has 14 catches on 19 targets this season along with four catches of 20 plus yards.
Wallace has not had a breakout game yet, but he is on the cusp with 12 catches for 152 yards and a touchdown since being signed from the Steelers in the offseason. The Dolphins spent a heap of money this past offseason and now they have the chance to try and push things to 4-0 heading into Week 5. The team plays the Ravens next and then will have a bye in Week 6 and then they get the chance to play divisional rivals in the Bills and Patriots. The Pats game is one the road and then the team has the Bengals before ending up back on Monday night football again.
