The New England Patriots are 4-0 this season after pulling out a victory against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday night football and while tight end Rob Gronkowski did not suit up for that game, his return appears to be imminent, meaning he could play in Week 5 against the Cincinnati Bengals.
According to ESPN.com, Tom Brady spoke on the radio in Boston and said that he is excited to get Gronkowski back in the offense as well as injured players like Shane Vereen and Danny Amendola. The Pats are undefeated despite not having those weapons in the offense and while Amendola and Vereen are still in the future, Gronk could end up on the field in Week 5 after many speculated that he could be in the lineup for the game on Sunday night against the Falcons.
Gronkowski has been practicing with the Patriots and now that he appears to be healthy from his multiple surgeries in the offseason, it could be time to get him back on the field. Brady has had to play with a number of rookies and players he has not played with much before, including Kenbrell Thompkins and Aaron Dobson, leaving Julian Edelman as his main receiver this season.
Reports from Boston say that Gronkowski could also miss this week before retuning in Week 6 against the New Orleans Saints, but either way, Brady would love to have one of his deadliest weapons back in the offense. The Patriots have a tough stretch coming up with a road game against the Bengals and including the Falcons game, the team is playing three of four games on the road, with the one home game being the New Orleans Saints next week.
The team has two straight division games with the Jets and Dolphins coming up before playing the Steelers in Week 9 and then the team has a bye in Week 10. The Patriots are hoping that once Gronk comes back, he won't suffer any setbacks with his injuries and his family camp wants him to be fully back to health before making a comeback.
Last season despite being injured Gronkowski was one of the most productive tight ends in football, making 55 catches for 790 yards and 11 touchdowns on 79 targets from Brady.
