The Rays were active just days ago as they worked their way past the Texas Rangers in Game 163. David Price held his end on the mound, guiding the Rays to victory in a complete-game performance. While Price was unhittable, the Rays will have third year righty Alex Cobb, who channeled his inner James Shields all season long, take the hill.
Cobb went 11-3 in 22 starts, posting a 2.76 ERA in 143.1 innings pitched. He had an 8.4 K/9 Ratio after striking out 134 batters in 2013. Cobb got better with time, shedding an earned run allowed every time he took the mound. In his first start in the month of September, Cobb allowed four earned runs over six innings, in his second start, he allowed three earned runs, followed by eight innings of two-run ball in his third start of the month. He closed out September allowing only one earned run over 15.1 innings pitched, while collected 16 strikeouts and walking four.

The Indians' starter, Danny Salazar might not have much experience, but he has a big arm. In his first 10 career starts in the majors, Salazar finished 2-3 with a 3.12 ERA, striking out 65 batters in 52 innings pitched for an 11.3 K/9 Ration.
In his last start of the season against the Chicago White Sox, Salazar went 5.1 innings, allowing two earned runs on six hits, one walk while striking out eight. He finished with seven ore more strikeouts in six of his 10 starts this season. The 23-year-old out of the Dominican Republic will do his best to hold the Rays, a team he has never faced in his career.
Cobb has the advantage heading into this matchup after facing the Indians in his first start of the 2013 season. He pitched 7.1 innings of shutout baseball as the Rays defeated the Indians 6-0.
