NFL Free Agent Rumors: Michael Turner, Laurent Robinson, Jason Smith On Market For Week 5, Max Starks Released As Pittsburgh Steelers, NY Giants, 49ers Interested?

The St. Louis Rams have not gotten off to the start they wanted this season with a 1-3 after scratching at .500 in 2012, but Week 5 brings some hope to the team, as they are playing the winless Jacksonville Jaguars at home at the Edward Jones Dome.

The team released Max Starks and some players that are on the market includes Michael Turner, Jason Smith, Laurent Robinson, Richard Seymour, Takeo Spikes and Andre Carter and teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers, NY Giants, 49ers and Seahawks could be interested in signing one of those players.

The Rams started off the season with a close win over the Arizona Cardinals at home, but the net three games were not kind to the defense, as St. Louis has given up over 30 points in each of the last three games. The Rams lost to the Falcons in Week 3 before being blown out by the Cowboys in Week 3 and the on Thursday night they lost to the San Francisco 49ers 35-11 to start off Week 4.

The Rams are looking to improve on defense after ranking 30th in the league in rushing yards allowed per game through four weeks of the season, which is one reason why they brought back Jo-Lonn Dunbar on a contract. According to ESPN.com, the Rams decided to release offensive lineman Max Starks to make room for Dunbar, who was previously cut by the team after he dealt with a suspension for violating the league's PED policy.

Dunbar said to reporters that having to stay away from the team helped put things in perspective and his return comes at a perfect time for the Rams, as the defense has struggled over the past three weeks. The team is dealing with an injury to Will Witherspoon and Dunbar returns after making over 110 tackles last season with 4.5 sacks and he could greatly help the defense with pressure on the quarterback. Tony Romo was able to carve up the defense two weeks ago and with the Jaguars coming up next, the team should be ready for a bounce back game.

The Rams are ranked 30th in rushing yards allowed per game this season and 18th ranked in passing yards allowed per game with over 250 yards. Sam Bradford has the passing offense ranked 12th in the league in yards per game, but injuries and poor play have hurt the rushing attack, which ranks last in the league with under 50 yards per game and the team is hoping for Daryl Richardson to have a strong return in Week 5.
