The New York Giants have been terrible this season and one reason has been the play of the offensive line, with players like Chris Snee and David Baas injured, which is why the team is bringing in former first round pick Jason Smith for a workout.
According to Pro Football Talk, Smith is coming in for a workout after the Giants had 10 lineman in to work, as both Baas and Snee are in line to miss this weekend's game against the Eagles after not playing last week in Kansas City. Smith is seen as a bust after being the number two pick in the draft for the Rams and after playing for the Jets and being cut by them and the Saints, he will get the chance to try and hang on with the Giants.
The team has been a total mess, with Eli Manning getting pressured on nearly every play and the rushing attack has been nonexistent, averaging less than 60 yards per game and adding Smith to the mix could help boost things for David Wilson and Brandon Jacobs in the offense, something Manning needs badly. The Giants have been terrible on defense and have been playing uninspired football and after scoring just seven points in the past two games, they are looking for answers.
The team plays the Eagles next and then has a road game against the Chicago Bears before playing the Vikings on Monday night football. The team has their second game against the Eagles before a bye in Week 9 and if they don't win at least two or three of those games, the season is all but over.
