The Boston Red Sox host the Tampa Bay Rays in the 2013 A.L. Division Series. The Red Sox own the seeason series 12-7 against the Rays. Many thought the Red Sox were going to be a team that could simply complete and annoy the other guys in the division. Coming into 2013, the Rays and Baltimore Orioles were expected to finish on top. However, jammed with experienced players and the right amount of youth, the Red Sox were equipped to win.
The Rays and Red Sox first met in a weekend series from Apr. 13-15. The Red Sox took the first three games. In fact, the Red Sox proceeded to take two of three in Tampa Bay when they met a month later in Tropicana Field and then took two of three in June when they met again back in Fenway Park.
Keeping the story short, the Red Sox won five of six series against the Rays in 2013. The Rays were just another victim from the A.L. East in the Red Sox's schedule as Boston finished with an overall record of 44-32 against all the division.
The Rays are coming of clutch performances guided by great pitching and timely offnese. They defeated the Texas Rangers 5-2 and then shutout the Cleveland Indians 4-0. The Red Sox have been preparing for this game as they will take their mighty offense to the field as they attempt to win their first World Series since 2007.
