Albert Pujols has always been known for being a homerun threat. Things have changed in 2012. Not only is he on a new team in a new league, but his power numbers have changed as well. Going into Wednesday's two-game series against the Chicago White Sox, Pujols had only one homerun. He went the whole month of April without a jack and finally went deep against the Blue Jays on Sunday May 6th.
Fortunately for the Angels and their fans, Pujols seems to be getting over this homerun slump. He went deep against the White Sox on Wednesday with a 3-run shot to right-center field giving the Angels a 4-2 lead, one they would not relinquish. Last night, Pujols also went deep. This time with a solo shit to center field.
What does this mean for baseball? Teams facing the Angels will have to watch out for Albert Pujols. Everybody knows Pujols was going to start hitting at some point, but nobody knew when. Although both homeruns were Pujols' only two hits in the two games, pitchers beware. The homeruns were not cheap shots and it seems like he has recovered his homerun cut.
The Los Angeles Angels can use some offense as they try to regain form and become a competitive team in the American League West. The Texas Rangers are leading Angels by seven games. The Angels will next face the San Diego Padres. Look for Pujols to continue his tear against a weaker opponent.
