Things are getting ugly for the New York Giants. The team is 0-6 on the season. They have no run game. Fans are crying out for a change at the quarterback position and Tom Coughlin cannot seem to come up with answers. To top it all off, players from other teams are beginning to have fun at their expense. As Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson put up big numbers against the Giants, he also took time to mock receiver Victor Cruz.
Jackson bought in a five yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter to seal the win for the Eagles. After the catch he mocked Cruz by doing his signature salsa dance in the end zone. He later posted a video of the whole thing on Instagram for the whole Internet to see. Mocking a team's star receiver on their own home field is never good as Jackson insisted the two are good friends.
"My friends told me to do that, some friends who didn't really like the dance," said Jackson, via PhiladelphiaEagles.com. "Me and him (Cruz) are great friends. Nothing towards him, just something to pay homage to my friends for wanting me to do that."
Paying homage, huh? Cruz did not seem to take it that way. When reporters asked the wide receiver to comment on Jackson's dance, he simply replied, "Next question." That does not sound like friends talking about friends. Perhaps the receiver was still dealing with another loss by the Giants. Cruz managed just five catches for 48 yards off 12 targets.
Jackson likely will not mind any criticism he receives for the video. The wide receiver dominated the Eagles, putting up 132 yards off seven passes. He led Eagles receivers on the day as the Giants simply could not contain him. While Cruz was the one with the big contract in the offseason, it is Jackson who is leading the way with 525 yards and three touchdowns through five games.
Fantasy owners were certainly loving Jackson on Sunday. He had 12 targets even with Michael Vick out with injury. Even if the quarterback is out for a week with a lingering hamstring issue, Jackson will still put up big numbers. The Eagles face the struggling Buccaneers in Week 6 as Jackson will go toe-to-toe with Darrelle Revis.
