Things looked pleasant for the Philadelphia 76ers as they headed back home to play the Boston Celtics after winning Game 2, but they could not repeat their performance and lost Game 3. The Celtics regained homecourt advantage and look to defend their 2-1 lead tonight. This is not good news for the Sixers who find themselves in a must win situation.
In Game 2, the 76ers held the Celtics to just 41% shooting, contrary to Game 3 where the Celtics shot close to 52% from the floor. Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Rajon Rondo combined for 74 points in Game 3. The 76ers have to defend better and cut down the amount of action in the paint. Rondo is dangerous once he penetrates because he is quick to the basket and can dish it out very well. If Rondo stays on the perimeter, chances are he will not be as effective.
It is easier said than done since the Celtics are known for setting screens to open up sharp shooters like Ray Allen. Paul Pierce can beat you from the three but the most important thjng is not to leave him home. Unlike Steve Blake from the Lakers, Paul Pierce will knockdown an open game-winning shot 9 out of 10 times.
The Sixers key for Game 4 is to use their youth to their advantage. Andre Iguodala has proven that he can lead the Sixers to victory. They can shoot from the outside, but are agile and have no problems getting to the paint. If they can use their speed to get past the Celtics older defenders, there is no reason why they should not be able to light up the scoreboard and outscore the Boston Celtics.
