The Boston Red Sox won Game 2 of the American League Championship Series in dramatic fashion on Sunday night, as the team defeated the Detroit Tigers after a grand slam to tie the game by David Ortiz before winning in the ninth and bullpen police officer Steve Horgan went viral after the game, as his celebration as Torii Hunter went over the wall was plastered everywhere.
Horgan raised his hands high in celebration after the home run cleared the wall and it happened just as Torii Hunter dove over the wall to try and grab it, crashing into the bullpen. Horgan took a photo in the pose after the game with Red Sox owner John Henry and the grand slam tied the game at 5-5 before the Red Sox were able to win the game in the ninth and it was a magical finish at Fenway Park for Boston in game 2 to tie the ALCS series at 1-1.
The replay of the video obviously was everywhere, and that is what led Horgan to go viral and he said that after the game that he got tons of messages on his phone about what happened. ESPN.com in Boston spoke with Horgan after the game and said that the 27-year-old Boston vet has been on bullpen duty for the first time this year.
The Red Sox pulled off the dramatic victory in comeback fashion and many were gasping with breath as they saw Hunter go after the ball, as he is one of the most athletic outfielders in the game and he nearly had it, but of course it made it over the wall and he himself ended up in the bullpen.
"It's awesome," he said to ESPN.com. "The guys are great. The players are great, and the coaches are really great."
