He was one of two starters acquired during the winter that made the Dodgers an instant favorite in the N.L. West. Ryu and Zack Greinke, who pitched a great Game 1, though he took the no-decision. The good news, Ryu pitched very well against the Cardinals during the regular season in one start made. He is 1-0 after pitching seven innings of five-hit baseball, striking out seven. The Cardinals got an unearned run through in that game and that might be enough as the Dodgers have struggled on offense. Making matters worse for the Dodgers hopes of winning, Adam Wainwright takes the mound for the Cardinals.
Wainwright has been amazing in his two starts this postseason. He pitched Games 1 and 5 against the Pittsburgh Pirates, totaling 16 innings, allowing two earned runs, one in each game. The Cardinals have only scored two more runs than the Dodgers this series, but that has been enough so far in the series.
However, the Dodgers hit Wainwright well in his lone start against them this season. He pitched seven innings, allowing three runs on seven hits and striking out five. Wainwright lost that game as the final score read 3-2. in favor of the Dodgers.
Game 1, the Cardinals took 3-2 in 13 innings. Then on Saturday, the Dodgers could not get anything off Cardinals' pitching despite a great effort from Clayton Kershaw. Michael Wacha was lights out, despite running into trouble a couple of times in the game. The final score was 1-0 with the Cardinals taking advantage of their first two games at home.
