The MLB Playoff Bracket are getting exciting. With the Los Angeles Dodgers' victory on Monday, they made it a series. They defeated the St. Louis Cardinals behind dynamic pitching. The final score was 3-0 in favor of the Dodgers and this time they returned the favor. Here's a look at the MLB Playoff Brackets with series records.
N.L. Championship Series: Cardinals 2-1 Lead
Game 1- Cardinals win 3-2 in 13 innings
Game 2- Cardinals win 1-0 behind rookie Wacha
Game 3- Dodgers win 3-0 with Ryu bouncing back
It would be tough to imagine Hyun-Jin Ryu being as dominant as he was in Game 3, when the Dodgers needed him the most. The Cardinals were the favorite coming into this matchup as Adam Wainwright took the mound. However, it is impossible to win any game if your team does not score behind you. Cardinals failed to get anything but singles against the South Korean.
Wainwright went seven innings, allowing two earned runs on six hits, no walks and striking out five. However, he gave up a couple of extra base hits, allowing the Dodgers to take the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning. Neither team would score again until the bottom of the eighth when Hanley Ramirez got a bloop single with Carl Crawford at second base. Crawford pressured the Cardinals' defense, scoring despite taking a late break. He was safe at the plate on a very close play, giving the Dodgers bullpen an extra run to work with.
The victory makes this a series once again as the Dodgers now have a chance to tie the series on Tuesday
A.L. Championship Series Tied 1-1
Game 1- Tigers win 1-0
Game 2- Red Sox Pop Late, Win 6-5
The Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers are tied after great baseball over the weekend. Both teams have scored six runs in the series after playing dramatic games. Anibal Sanchez had a no-hitter and he was removed from the game in the sixth inning. However, he did walk six batters, so it was a very sloppy no-hitter, but a no-hitter nonetheless. The Tigers bullpen was able to hold on to the lead, taking game one and surprising the Fenway Park crowd.
Game 2 followed suit. The Red Sox could not answer the call in the early innings as the Tigers took the lead behind their powerful bats of Alex Avila and Miguel Cabrera. However, the Red Sox responded with a game-tying grand slam that simply milked all the energy from the Tigers. They eventually lost it in the bottom of the ninth as Jarrod Saltalamacchia smacked a ball past Jose Iglesias. Jonny Gomes tied the series as he crossed the plate.
