NLCS Game 4 Score: Cardinals vs. Dodgers Updates with Play-by-Play at 8 p.m. ET

Oct 15, 2013 07:41 PM EDT

The Los Angeles Dodgers meet in Game 4 of the NLCS. The Cardinals are trying to hold on to their 2-1 lead as they have another chance to win their third game of the series. The Dodgers are trying to catch up, as they attempt to even the series 2-2.

Do not take Ricky Nolasco as a dud. He has shut down the Cardinals in two starts this season, allowing just one earned run in two starts this season. The Dodgers gave him run support, giving the starter little to worry about as he stepped on the mound.

The Cardinals lineup is producing the worst numbers of any team in the postseason. They are striking out too much and they are not getting runs in.

It seems that the first team to score three runs will get the sure victory. The Dodgers have totaled five runs in the series. Meanwhile the Cardinals have scored four. Both teams have been inconsistent, but the Dodgers appear to have the advantage when Hanley is in the lineup. Bad news Cardinals, Ramirez is back in the lineup and Yasiel Puig broke out of his slump.

Here are both lineups for both teams.

Cardinals Lineup
1. Matt Carpenter 2B
2. Carlos Beltran RF
3. Matt Holliday LF
4. Matt Adams 1B
5. Yadier Molina C
6. Jon Jay CF
7. David Freese 3B
8. Daniel Descalso SS
9. Lance Lynn P

Descalso gets the start, despite his horrible running mistake at second base, completely killing a Cardinals rally. Adams moves up in the lineup, hitting in the cleanup spot for the Cardinals.

Dodgers Lineup
1. Carl Crawford LF
2. Mark Ellis 2B
3. Hanley Ramirez SS
4. Adriabn Gonzalez 1B
5. Andrew Ethier CF
6. Yasiel Puig RF
7. Juan Uribe 3B
8. A.J. Ellis C
9. Ricky Nolasco P

It is same old, same old for the Dodgers in Game 4. Ethier gets the start and he bats behind Gonzalez, though that appears like a bit of a risk as Ethier has done close to nothing on offense in this series. Puig's bat has woken up, so who knows what he will supply for the Dodgers in this one.
