The Detroit Tigers and Boston Red Sox are set to meet in Game 4 of the 2013 ALCS. Here's their schedule for today as there is a bit of a change in game time, though the TV coverage will remain the same.
Game Time: 8 p.m. ET
TV Channel: FOX
It's still Joe Buck and Tim McCarver with the call for tonight's game, the one that can place the Red Sox one win away from their first World Series appearance in six years. Of course, the Tigers do not want to hear any of that as they are looking to tie the series with Doug Fister on the mound on Wednesday evening.
Fister had a decent outing in the ALDS against the Oakland Athletics. He allowed three runs over six innings pitched. However, the Tigers' bats were more alive in that series as Red Sox's pitching has dominated (specifically the bullpen). Tiger starters have been brilliant, with their bullpen costing them Game 2 of the series and a 2-0 ALCS lead.
Fister will be opposed by savvy right-hander, Jake Peavy. Peavy was uncharacteristically good in his most recent playoff start. Not that Peavy has been a terrible pitcher overall, but he had struggled in the postseason in two career starts. Going into his ALDS start against the Tampa Bay Rays, the righty had made two starts in the playoffs, both with the San Diego Padres. He gave up 13 earned runs in 9.2 innings pitched in those starts. However, against the Rays, he went 5.2 innings, allowing just one earned run on five hits, no walks and recording three strikeouts.
The Tigers will need to wake up in this game, or else the Red Sox will have a chance to lock up the series against Anibal Sanchez. He struggled with his location in Game 1, walking six Red Sox hitters, but ironically, this apparently kept Boston off-balance as the team struck out 12 times.
The Red Sox can smell the World Series gates. The Tigers are trying to fight their way to a series tie.
