After Louisville lost to UCF, Teddy Bridgewater will have a hard time winning the Heisman Trophy this year. Johnny Manziel is officially in the driver's seat to take home the award for the second year in a row. The Auburn Tigers are well-aware the Texas A&M quarterback is unstoppable.
Manziel leads the SEC with an average of 305.8 passing yards per game as the Aggies rank No. 7 in the polls. The quarterbacks leads the team with 427 total rushing yards, averaging 6.5 yards per carry. The last time Manziel faced Auburn. the quarterback scored five touchdowns, rushing for three of the team. He completed 16 of 23 in passing for 260 yards.
The Auburn Tigers are still healing the wounds from the loss and head coach Gus Malzahn is helping. The Tigers are ranked once again at No. 24 coming off a year of lows for the team. They are coming off a 62-3 win over FCS opponent Western Carolina, the team's best game yet. Against Texas A&M, Nick Marshall returns giving Auburn a better offense.
Marshall is a threat just like Manziel. He is averaging 5.2 yards per carry, rushing for 140 yards against Ole Miss a few weeks ago. While he is a great rushing quarterback, his efficiency as a passer has been weak. The quarterback is completing just 59.2 percent of his passes this season. His numbers could improve against the Aggies. The Texas A&M secondary has given up an average of 321.5 passing yards per game in the past four games.
Malzahn has the Tigers on a roll this season. The head coach is certainly hoping to keep the momentum alive facing the best quarterback in the game.
