The San Francisco 49ers have been rolling on offense ever since getting outscored 56-10 in consecutive losses last month. The team has held a 101-34 advantage their past three games. The Tennessee Titans will look to get their offense moving like that as the 49ers come in for a Sunday matchup.
San Francisco's secret has been in the run game. The team is averaging 181.7 yards on the ground while Frank Gore is putting up 5.7 yards per carry in the past four games. He has accounted for 417 yards in that stretch. In two of his past three games, Gore has rushed for over 100 yards.
Quarterback Colin Kaepernick has eliminated mistakes over the past few games. He has thrown five touchdowns and just one interception in the past three games after a stretch that saw him toss four interceptions and zero touchdowns. Kaepernick has been spreading the ball out well allowing for plenty of big games. Tight end Vernon Davis matched a career-high with 180 yards against the Arizona Cardinals. During the 49ers' win streak, Davis has put up six touchdowns.
The Titans are getting back their biggest offensive weapon in quarterback Jake Locker. The quarterback had been out with a hip injury suffered back on Sept. 29. It was expected that he would miss a few weeks, but Tennessee is happy to have him back early. That should provide a spark in the offense that has struggled with consistency.
The Titans offensive unit ranks 29th in the league with 302.2 yards per game. With Ryan Fitzpatrick as the starting quarterback, the offense put up just two scores. The run game is also struggling as Chris Johnson is failing to put up the big numbers. He has just 71 yards in the past three games.
The Titans and 49ers do not have much experience playing each other. The two teams have met up twice back in 2009 and 2005. The Titans won both games.
