Monday Night Football Results: Final Score 23-7 New York Giants Win Over Minnesota Vikings, Improves To 1-6 Record With Eagles Next

Oct 21, 2013 11:55 PM EDT

The New York Giants and the Minnesota Vikings played on Monday night football in Week 7 of the NFL season and the two teams came in with a combined one win and with the Giants getting the victory at MetLife Stadium, the team now improves to 1-6 on the season with the score of 23-7 and they finally get the first win on the season.

The game was an ugly mess that went into halftime and most of the third quarter at 10-7 and the Giants looked terrible on offense despite having the lead and things really took a turn for the team when Eli Manning missed to Hakeem Nicks on what should have been a sure touchdown catch early in the game on the first drive. The team scored a touchdown in the first half with a pass from Manning to Rueben Randle and while they couldn't run the ball much, Peyton Hillis did a good job of chugging out some tough yards and he could be a solid option going forward for the team.

The Minnesota Vikings will be visiting the New York Giants for Monday Night Football in the final game of the schedule in Week 7 and it brings together two teams that need a victory and the matchup will be live on ESPN starting up at 8:30 pm and will be broadcast from MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

The Vikings are not playing much better than the Giants and they at least have one win this season and now the team will try and rebound from a terrible loss at home against the Carolina Panthers from last week. The team already had its bye and with Adrian Peterson a little banged up and dealing with what happened to his son, he had an extra day to rest and now will get the chance to have a bounce back game on Monday night against the Giants. The Vikings will have a new quarterback in the game with Josh Freeman and they are facing off against a defense that has given up way too many yards this season, especially on the ground and that could mean a big day for Peterson.

The Vikings started the season with three straight losses while allowing over 30 points and that has been terrible for the defense and after getting a close win in London over the Steelers and then coming home, the team was dominated by the Panthers, something they have in common with the Giants, who lost to Carolina in embarrassing fashion as well this season. The team plays the schedule straight through now the rest of the season and the Monday night matchup is their only national game this season apart from a game in a few weeks against the Washington Redskins on Sunday night football. The team plays the Giants and then the Green Bay Packers before continuing a stretch of three games in four weeks against NFC East opponents with the Dallas Cowboys on the road and the Washington Redskins at home.

The Vikings have a tough stretch on the road with three of four away from home, including the Seattle Seahawks, Green Bay Packers against and then at home against the Chicago Bears, who already defeated the Vikings this season. The team the plays on the road against the Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens and then they have a brutal final stretch against the Eagles at home, Bengals on the road and then the Detroit Lions to end things. The Vikings need a win over the Giants, who are 0-6 this season and looking terrible.

Eli Manning has always thrown picks, but not like this before and now he must try and rebound with his team's fate hanging in the balance once again, as 0-7 could bring out some very bad consequences. The team is facing an integral stretch to their season, as they play a division game next against the Eagles and then has three straight home games, including the Oakland Raiders, Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys that they must win. The Giants have not been able to run the ball or play defense this season and they will be tested yet again on Monday, as they are ranked 24th and 27th in rushing and passing yards allowed per game.

The game on Monday will be on ESPN for Monday Night Football and has the Vikings visiting the Giants in the final matchup for Week 7 at 8:30 pm.
