The NFL Schedule is now moving along into Week 8 after the New York Giants won a sloppy game against the Minnesota Vikings on Monday night football and while the game was not pretty, the G-Men got the first victory of the season and now have a one in the win column to improve to 1-6 on the year, while the Vikes are now 1-5.
The NFC East is still nothing special with the Dallas Cowboys at 4-3 to lead the division and the team has already won three games within the east and they have the clear advantage going forward. The Eagles are now 3-4 after losing to the Cowboys on Sunday and the Redskins are 2-4 after winning a shootout against the Bears. The Giants have a division game against the Eagles next and are 0-2 in the division this season, but now they have that crucial first victory, something they needed to do before talking about turning the season around.
The East could end up getting tight, as the Giants amazingly could get back into it, as they play the Eagles, Redskins and Cowboys all in a five game stretch. The team now is in last place, but they are no longer among the Jags and the Bucs as winless teams. The Green Bay Packers are now tops in the NFC North with a 4-2 record over the 4-3 Lions and Bears, who came in leading the division but both lost close games against the Bengals and Redskins on Sunday. The Vikings are 1-5 this season and have not been good in the division, losing two games already.
The NFC South has the Saints at 5-1 as they were on a bye this week, while the Falcons won to improve to 2-4 just behind the Panthers at 3-3 and the Bucs are 0-6 this season. The NFC West is led by Seattle with a 6-1 record over the 5-2 49ers and the Rams and Cardinals are behind with 3-4 records.
The Patriots have the lead in the AFC East despite losing on Sunday, with a 5-2 record and behind are the Jets at 4-3 over the Bills and Dolphins at 3-4. The North has the Bengals at 5-2 over the 3-4 Broncos and Ravens with the Steelers 2-4, while Indy is tops in the AFC south with a 5-2 record. The Titans are 3-4 this season ahead of the Texans at 2-4, while the Jags are 0-7.
The AFC West race is heating up with the Chiefs at 7-0 over the Broncos at 6-1 after they lost to the Colts. The teams have two games to play against each other over three weeks and that could decide the division. The Chargers are 4-3 and the Raiders are 2-4 this season.
