Percy Harvin Fantasy: Seattle Seahawks WR Preaches Patience, Russell Wilson Builds Chemistry as Pete Carroll Considers Week 8 Play for Receiver

Percy Harvin was one of the biggest offseason stories after the wide receiver signed with the Seattle Seahawks and then promptly went and had hip surgery. However, the wide receiver is now slowly getting back on the field with rumors surfacing that he could see playing time on Monday night when the team faces St. Louis. While Harvin says he is feeling great, the receiver is stressing patience from the fans.

"Today was an excellent day," Harvin said, via ESPN.com. "It's been a long ride, but it's been worth it and I'm just ready to get back to work with my guys. I want to play as soon as possible. But we're trying to be smart about it and we have a plan in place. I know one pace, and that's full stride, so it's been tough. At the same time, I have to take progressions to not have any setbacks and hurt the team any further."

Harvin's surgery to repair a torn labrum normally takes upwards of four months to heal, leaving Harvin concerned he would out for the entire season. He noted how surprised he was when the day after surgery he was already picking his legs up and riding a bike. His improvement only progressed from there as Harvin new a return was possible.

"It feels great," Harvin said. "I haven't had any setbacks and I'm running pretty good. I'm doing all the things I was doing previously. It's just a matter of getting back in the swing of things, and I'll be ready to go."

Pete Carroll is certainly excited to have the top target back on the field. He stresses the Seahawks are being very cautious in his return. Harvin has been very limited throughout the week and the head coach is not committing to whether he will play on Monday.

"He's got to get through normal days of practice, and we'll see how he handles it," Carroll said. "The thought we've been going with all along is to take the conservative approach and make sure he's healthy. We're going to continue to do that. We'll take our time and see how he goes. The workload will increase as we go through the week and next week."

Harvin says he feels great now and is just working with quarterback Russell Wilson to start forming chemistry and timing on the field. Harvin notes he is rusty since not playing a game since Nov. 4 of last season, but the wide receiver is ready to contribute.
