The Dallas Cowboys had no choice when they decided to release Jay Ratliff, as he was dealing with an injury and things started to turn for the worse and now his agent has said that the defensive tackle is medically cleared and that teams are interested in signing him.
According to ESPN.com, Ratliff has had interest from at least six teams and now that he has been medically cleared to workout, his agent said that there is a chance that Ratliff could return this season. The report says that Cowboys organization didn't have "trust" in Ratliff anymore, but now other teams are in the market for him and while they were not revealed by the agent, some fits could be the San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks or St. Louis Rams among other teams.
The report says that Ratliff is looking to get back into the game and that despite getting released, the four-time Pro Bowl player is ready to get back in action. Ratliff originally had surgery last year and went through a rehab process and there were also reports about a scuffle between Ratliff and Jerry Jones last season and that is around where the relationship soured and it also was due to the treatment of the injury. Ratliff was waived and now he has the chance to get back into things if another team wants to sign him.
Last season Ratliff played in just six games and had 16 tackles, but over the previous four seasons he played in all 16 games and the two seasons before that he missed just one game per season. He had over seven sacks back in 2008 and six in 2009, but he hasn't had more than four over the past three seasons and last year he only had 10 solo tackles while being banged up and dealing with the injuries.
Ratliff is a skilled player that can fit on a number of teams and someone like the Niners, who despite having a great defense are allowing over 100 rushing yards per game, could use him up front. The team plays against Jacksonville in London this week and then has a bye and after that the schedule heats up with games against New Orleans, Washington, Seattle and Atlanta still on the docket.
