The Los Angeles Clippers are heading into the season with championship expectations after bringing in Doc Rivers and a host of other players and with point guard Chris Paul coming back for the long-term, the franchise is set up for the future and now they will finish off the preseason with a home game at the Staples Center against the Sacramento Kings in a game that will be on NBA TV at 10:30 PM.
The Clippers have some depth and a ton of talent this season and Rivers could be the right coach to get it done and with players like Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan and JJ Redick in the fold, they could make a great run in the west. The team played very well last season and won the division under Vinny Del Negro, but the franchise made a coaching change anyway and Paul returns as the leader of a top 10 offense that scored over 100 points per game. Doc Rivers inherited himself a great team that could make a title run out west and the team comes back after ranking in the top five in defense as well with less than 95 points per game.
The Clippers have won five of seven games this preseason, while the Kings have gone 4-2 and the Clippers have a tough conference to deal with and they may not even win their own division this season, although they probably will be looked at as the favorite. The Clippers ranked 18th in rebounding last season with over 40 per game and they come in with the Lob City offense and Paul will be the center piece again. The team is coming off of a win over the Jazz that saw Paul hit 10 assists and the team is coming in with two straight wins after defeating Utah and the Nuggets in overtime. The team has lost only twice and one was to the Kings and they started with two wins over the Portland Trail Blazers and then the Utah Jazz.
The Clippers start with a game against the Lakers and then they will play against the Golden State Warriors before playing against the Sacramento Kings in a California tour and then they have a three games road trip. The team heads east to play the Orlando Magic and then the Miami Heat before playing the Houston Rockets and after that they have the Timberwolves and then the Thunder. The team has Brooklyn and Memphis next and Chris Paul will be the leader again of this offense as he tries to win that elusive title.
