The Baylor Bears have been one of the most impressive teams in college football halfway through the season and the offense has not slowed down one bit since losing quarterback Robert Griffin III and they might be even better now and they will put their 6-0 record on the line Saturday in a Big 12 game against Kansas at Memorial Stadium starting at 7:00 pm on ESPNU and streaming on Watch ESPN online.
The Bears offense rivals that of only Oregon and they are one of the only teams in college football that is ranked in the top 10 in both passing offense and rushing offense in yards per game and they also rank in the top 10 in both scoring offense and scoring defense by points per game. Baylor doesn't have the toughest schedule, but the play in a decent conference in the Big 12 and they have upcoming tests against the Sooners and Red Raiders as well as the Cowboys for three straight games against ranked opponents and that will help to see whether they are the real deal or not. This season the team is completely dominating opponents and it's not even close, with the team scoring 64 points per game and they have already scored 70 points on four different occasions and no one else in the nation has put up numbers like that. The Bears average over 700 yards per game and that includes 400 passing yards and 300 rushing yards and the offensive stats are just intense, with Bryce Petty throwing for 15 touchdowns and over 2,000 yards, while Lache Seastrunk has himself over 700 yards rushing and 10 touchdowns and the top two receivers have combined for 14 touchdowns catches on top of that. Between then they have over 1,400 yards receiving with 50 receptions and now the team will head into its toughest stretch after Kansas and the Jayhawks likely will be no problem, as they are 0-3 in the Big 12 and just 2-4 on the season and they simply do not have the firepower to keep up or stop Baylor
The team is allowing less than 17 points per game and are on a seven game winning streak after defeating West Virginia at home and the Wildcats on the road and after a huge win over Iowa State at home they now have Kansas before playing against the Oklahoma Sooners and then the Texas Tech Raiders will be next and both teams are ranked in the top 15. The next game is Oklahoma State for the third game in a row against a ranked teams and after that are two very tough games against state opponents in TCU and then Texas at home and while the Horned Frogs game is on the road, both could be tough, meaning Baylor has a chance to really move up if they keep winnings.
Both Texans and Texas Tech are undefeated in the conference still so the Bears have things in their own hands and while the schedule is tough, this game against Baylor should be no problem and their offense could end up with another huge day. Baylor and Kansas are matching up on Saturday night and another offense that is just as good will also be playing on Saturday night at the same time, as Oregon will be playing at home against UCLA and it would be an amazing contest to see Oregon and the Bears go at it.
