Serena Williams is bubbling with confidence and believes she can win the French Open, ten years after winning her first and only Roland Garros title.

Serena has shown some good form in the clay-court season this year, winning the Madrid Open before having to pull out from the tournament in Rome due to injury.

"I feel amazing right now and I feel I can do a lot more and I want to do a lot more," Serena told BBC. "I absolutely feel I can win the French Open."

Serena's recent rise in form has taken her to the world number 5 ranking and the American believes is she keeps the run going, she can become number one in the world again.

"I think I am close (to becoming world number one). My goal is just to be consistent. To do the best I can and just win titles.

"If the number one ranking comes with that, then bravo; if not, then I'm just focused on doing the best that I can."

Williams, who defeated current world number one and Australian Open champion Victoria Azarenka in the finals in Madrid, believes there is a lot of competition in the women's field this year.

"There is a lot of depth. We have myself in the top ten. Maria Sharapova and Azarenka are playing really consistently.

"I'm just glad to be back in the swing of things. I was just disappointed earlier this year with my injury, but now I feel I'm back in it and can compete with these players."

The red clay of Roland Garros hasn't been too kind to Serena over the years, with her only title coming way back in 2002. However, Serena said she is in love with Paris.

"I feel like Paris is my home. I really want to move there, but I don't want people in America to be disappointed. I'm really loving Paris. So much that I'm always there."
