Blake Griffin struck again. This time, he has a sidekick and does not involve a Griffin from the past. KIA Motors aired the newest commercial with their popular baller during the NBA's season opener. As always, Griffin entertained.
Okay, so the point might go over your head, but Griffin and his counterpart, Jack McBrayer, are hilarious. Calling McBrayer "Griffin's counterpart" is a bit of a stretch, but they have the same exact suit, except that McBrayer's is more of a Robin since he wears the "mask". McBrayer, who is no basketball player, is an actor/comedian. He is more popular for his role as "Kenneth Parcell" on 30 Rock.
The size differential gives Griffin the advantage. McBrayer is 5' 10" and looks like a complete midget next to Griffin. Griffin is out of his basketball element, rolling on the streets, slamming through windows, performing stunts as he attempts to save the day.
What are they saving exactly?
The world from making "lame" purchases. Look closely at the website the man is using to purchase a vehicle. It says "LameVehicle.com." That produced a chuckle. The scene shows up 13 seconds into the commercial, but the commercial is so long, after it is done, you sort of forget what the point of the commercial is.
Of course, you have the KIA Optima, which looks as muscular as Griffin himself. But why is McBrayer the sidekick when his last name is not Griffin? Or better yet, why is it the "Griffin Force?" Griffin is the only Griffin in the force, so the name does not really make sense.
Maybe there is a second part to the video that will help put things in perspective. However, as of right now, the commercial stands as extremely entertaining. Griffin has a bright future on the court as well as on the television entertaining. Let's not push it with movies or too many cameo appearances, he's a basketball player for a reason. But like the Michael Jordan's and Shaquille O'Neal's who could do both TV and sports, Griffin is proving to be making a large chunk of his money from ads rather than being a one-dimensional asset as a basketball player.
Expect to see a lot of this commercial within the next few weeks as the Los Angeles Clippers will be hitting primetime frequently. They face the Golden State Warriors tonight on TNT. We leave you with the commercial.
