Both started ranked with high hopes and now both have been hit hard with injuries, falling out of contention to even get into the SEC Championship game. Despite all of that, the Georgia-Florida matchup always bring heat and excitement. This year will be no different.
Georgia's season can be summed up as a disappointment. After losing to Clemson in the season opener, they rattled off a string of wins before getting upset by Missouri and Vanderbilt. Now, they will limp to bowl game and settle for that. Saturday brings some hope as running back Todd Gurley is expected back after injuring his ankle against LSU. That will be a huge help to quarterback Aaron Murray who was also working without second-string back Keith Marshall.
Injuries will be the story of this game. Georgia will be without eight starters this week, highlighted by Malcolm Mitchell, Justin Scott-Wesley. The Gators have had their fair share of bad luck as well. Florida is without quarterback Jeff Driskel, running back Matt Jones and lineman Dominique Easley.
The World's Largest Cocktail Party always has its share of flair to it. Georgia is seeking their third-straight win over Florida. Murray is on the brink of entering the record books. The senior quarterback needs just three touchdown passes to become the SEC's career leader in touchdown throws.
There are plenty of stats to keep an eye on in this game. Georgia has failed to create any turnovers this season. Florida on the other had has giving up 13 turnovers in the last seven games. If Georgia can capitalize off this, they could see another victory.
This is Murray's final game in Jacksonville of his college career. The senior will be looking to but some life back into the Dawgs season with a key win over a conference opponent.
