Darrel Young Fantasy Football: Washington Redskins RB Sleeper Pick Up For Alfred Morris Handcuff Into Week 10

Nov 03, 2013 05:14 PM EST

The Washington Redskins pulled out a huge overtime win on Sunday against the San Diego Chargers and one of the main reasons was the play of the running backs, including Darrel Young, Roy Helu and Alfred Morris and Young led the way with three touchdowns and the winner in OT for the 30-24 victory and that makes him a sleeper pickup for Week 10.

The Redskins got three touchdowns from Young on Sunday, including the four-yard score for the winner and he also added two other touchdowns that were from one yard out and that have the team a huge boost on Sunday. Young had just two carries coming into the game for 19 yards on the ground and one reception for four yards, but on Sunday he contributed in a big way with five carries for 12 yards and three touchdowns and now the Redskins are 3-5 this season. The team was able to take down the Chargers with a touchdown on the opening drive of overtime and Robert Griffin III was solid all day with 291 yards and Alfred Morris was tops in the rushing game with 121 yards on the ground and another touchdown as well. While Young hasn't done much this season, he could be a good handcuff going forward after the way he played on Sunday.

Young averaged over two yards per carry in the game and his only other chances were one carry for zero yards against Chicago and one carry for 19 yards against the Dallas Cowboys a few weeks ago. In his career, Young has 131 yards and one touchdown before the game on Sunday and now he could be the answer for the Redskins in the redzone, which is one area where the team had not been very good this season. The team came into the game with a 50 percent touchdown rate in the zone and they are 22nd in the league with redzone numbers and in the loss last week they gave up a number of chances and they were obviously much better on Sunday.

Young came through with the multiple scores, while Morris also got in on the action to the happiness of fantasy owners and heading into the game they rushed only 11 times in the red zone and that has been a big issue, but clearly on Sunday that was not a problem against the Chargers. Morris has been very consistent this season for the Redskins with 565 yards coming into the game and the team is ranked in the top 10 in rushing yards and he has been very good over the past few weeks, rushing for over 90 yards in each of his last three games. Morris rushed for 121 yards and a touchdown on Sunday and he has four touchdowns in the past four games and two in the past two matchups. Helu did not do much on Sunday but he is a solid option as well and Morris comes in third in rush yards per game and also in the top 10 in touchdowns with four.
