Oakland Raiders fans held their breath as Terrelle Pryor left Sunday's game early with what looked to be a serious knee injury. The quarterback appeared to hurt his right knee during the fourth quarter of a blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Despite not returning, Pryor is insisting that nothing is serious.
The quarterback was hit while attempting to run out of bounds and gripped his right knee. The Raiders immediately removed the quarterback from the game, replacing him with undrafted rookie Matt McGloin. Pryor went back to the locker room to place ice on the injury, but is not insisting that everything is stable and he can walk around just fine.
"Coming out was a precaution," Pryor said, via CSN Bay Area. "There was nine minutes left in the game. We weren't coming back. We thought we should take care of it and give it some ice."
The Raiders cannot afford to lose Pryor. The quarterback has given them the best chance at winning each week. The team has been coming very close at times while struggling during other weeks, especially Sunday against the Eagles where they gave up a record-tying seven touchdowns. Pryor would only say the loss was "embarrassing." The quarterback finished going 22 for 41 in passing for 288 yards while throwing two interceptions. He also rushed for 94 yards on 10 carries.
Also injured in the bad loss was starting running back Darren McFadden. The starter aggravated a hamstring issue that he originally suffered against the Washington Redskins in September. He finished with a disappointing 12 yards on five carries. He insisted that he is just sore and the trainers would re-evaluate him on Monday.
The hamstring injury is just another on a long list for McFadden. The running back has yet to play a full schedule in the NFL, never playing more than 13 games a year. He has already missed one game this season as he continues through a contract season. The hamstring injury is not the best thing to have on his resume as McFadden will be searching for a new contract either with the Raiders or somewhere else. The back needed a big season in order to prove he is worthy of more money and a longer commitment from a team, but has yet to show it.
