The Green Bay Packers suffered a scary injury on Monday night football when quarterback Aaron Rodgers was injured against the Chicago Bears early in the game and now reports have him missing up to three weeks, which would be the first time he has missed a game in a few years.
According to Pro Football Talk, initial reports have the injury at three weeks and ESPN.com is reporting that he has a small crack in his collarbone and the team has not yet commented officially. The Packers obviously need Rodgers and it would be good news if he was only out three weeks, meaning he likely would be back for the Detroit Lions game on Thanksgiving and that comes after a game against the Eagles this week followed by the New York Giants on the road and then another divisional game against the Minnesota Vikings.
Rodgers is obviously integral to the success of the Packers and while they will miss him, the stretch is against three bad teams right now with the Eagles, Giants and Vikings before a huge game against the division tie leading Detroit Lions and that could be all the time that he needs to heal up. Ed Werder reports that the injury could be worse than just three weeks, but those are the initial reports coming out. The team is going to look into testing the injury to see what the best course of action is and that could mean re-signing Matt Flynn.
The Packers still looked good on offense and now have a top two rushing attack in yards per game while the team is also ranked in the top 10 in passing. The rush defense has been excellent this season and they now will host the Eagles after Nick Foles passed for seven touchdowns this week. The team then has alternating road and home games with the Giants and Vikings and then the Lions before the same against the Dallas Cowboys and then the Steelers and then the team finishes on the road against the Chicago bears and that game has new significance with the Monday night game results.
