The Miami Dolphins are in a terrible mess with the Richie Incognito situation and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Jacksonville Jaguars are the only two winless teams in the NFL, so what in the world is in the water down in Florida this season when it comes to professional football?
The Dolphins situation is terrible and the Bucs and Jags fit that description as teams and now the entire state is a bit embarrassing when it comes to the NFL season. The Jonathan Martin situation continues to spiral out of control, Greg Schiano likely is going to get fired from the Bucs, while the best players on the Jaguars in Justin Blackmon was suspended for the season.
Something is going on down in Florida and that thing is not good football by any stretch of the imagination. The Buccaneers had a chance this week against the Seahawks, but they blew it, and now the Jaguars don't even have their top receiver. Check below for more on the Miami mess and whether the Jags can win a game.
So can the Jaguars even win a game this season? Let's see.
The Titans in Week 10 are a possibility, but they have a solid defense and it's on the road, so no. The Arizona Cardinals in Week 11 is possible, as the team is Jekyll and Hyde and it's a road game for a west coast team. POSSIBLE! In week 12 the team is on the road against the Texans, who are also bad, but NO. Week 13 is the Browns on the road, likely NO since it's away from home. Not that the Jags can't win away, they just likely won't. Week 14 and the next two are at home. Texans? Yes, maybe.
The next two games are the Buffalo Bills in Week 15 and that is home, so it's possible. Titans again at home? Maybe. Finishes the season with the Colts on the road. NO WAY. Not impossible, but it won't be easy.
According to ESPN and other news outlets, Martin left the team after being pranked, harassed and bullied by players on the team, with reports identifying one of the main culprits as Incognito, who has now been suspended by the team. Martin left before last week's game against the Bengals after an incident that happened at the lunch room at the team facility and now reports have come out about various incidents, including threatening and racial messages left on Martin's phone as well as a trip to Las Vegas that he paid $15K for out of fear of consequences from Incognito if he did not, even though he said he would rather not go on the trip.
That report was reported by Adam Schefter at ESPN.com and sources said that Incognito asked Martin to contribute the money to help pay for a trip last summer and while he didn't want to do, he also feared the consequences of not paying, so he gave the money. That, and other allegations are now being investigated by the league and the NFLPA has stepped back, as they may have to represent players once punishment is meted out. The issues could be bad for the Dolphins and the NFL, as locker room culture is a big deal in the league and it also puts other issues in context.
The team as recently as this past weekend, after Martin left the team and the issues surfaced, put a $30,000 dollar dinner bill on rookie. The evidence was relayed by Twitter of course as well as a Miami Herald Reporter, who noted that rookies making the minimum will make $400,000 this season. Jared Odrick tweeted out a picture and wrote a comment about the rookies paying and while that is a common practice in sports and the NFL, with all this going on with Martin, it does not look good in the situation and could be something that gets addressed later down the line.
