The NCAA Men's College Basketball season will get started up on Friday night with nearly all of the top 25 teams in the nation playing and one of the biggest matchups will be the Armed Forces Classic on ESPN from Camp Humphreys in South Korea and the game will start up at 8:00 pm ET between the Oregon Ducks and the Georgetown Hoyas.
The two teams are matching up across the world and it marks the second year in a row that the NCAA and ESPN will partner for the Classic, which will be at Camp Humphreys this year and puts two very solid teams against each other in the Ducks and the Hoyas, as Georgetown is a classic college basketball powerhouse, while Oregon comes into the season ranked 19th in the nation and looking to make some noise out of the now stacked Pac-12. The Ducks will be playing in the game without two of their best players, as Ben Carter and Dominic Artis will be out after dealing with some NCAA issues, as both players sold some clothing they should not have. According to ESPN.com, the two will be out until the Dec 17 games against UC Irvine and now will also have to pay to charity the money they received for the shoes.
Oregon comes into the season after winning 28 games and making some noise in the NCAA tournament and now they will play in a Pac-12 conference that has three teams in the top 22 with Arizona and UCLA and they have a solid schedule this season after starting with Georgetown. The team plays against Ole Miss and Illinois before conference play gets started up and they have a tough road stretch with five of seven games on the road in January, including road matchups with Utah, Oregon State and Washington.
The Hoyas went 25-7 last season and were 14-4 against the Big East, but they lost some talent to the NBA and having Otto Porter gone will be one of the biggest names of anyone to make up in the entire nation. The Hoyas always have a tough schedule and some of the early tough games this season includes a road matchup against now number five Kansas and Andrew Wiggins, as well as three straight road games against Providence, Butler and Xavier and the team also has matchups with Michigan State and Marquette later on as well. The Hoyas have a tough conference to deal with along with the Ducks, but they come into the season unranked and that could change depending on how they play this year.
The two teams will play on Friday night on ESPN starting up at 8:00 pm and the matchup will be all the way on the other side of the world, as the Oregon Ducks and Georgetown Hoyas will face off at United States Army Garrison Humphreys in Pyeongtaek all the way in South Korea. This game marks the second time that the season will kick off with an Armed Forces classic game and it will be in the Humphreys Community Fitness Center on the base.
