The Chicago Bears are coming off of a bye week and will get quarterback Jay Cutler back from injury and it comes at a perfect time, as Sunday's Week 10 game will be a matchup with an NFC North division rival in the Detroit Lions at Soldier Field airing at 1:00 pm on FOX and it comes after the Bears lost the last game in Week 4 at Ford Field.
The Bears are happy to have Cutler back, but many have questioned whether they should have given him an extra week to heal up, as backup Josh McCown played well in his absence and having Cutler get hurt even more could be terrible for the team. The Bears started the season 3-0 and hit a slump by losing three of four games apart from a win over the Giants and that put the team in a tough position and they were fading out of the division race with the Detroit Lions, but a win over the Green Bay Packers coming out of the bye week in Week 9 on Monday night football changed everything and McCown was very solid with 272 yards passing and no picks and now the team is tied atop the division with the Green Bay Packers and the Lions and that makes every division game going forward very crucial.
The team comes into the game after losing to the Redskins after Cutler was injured and the Bears lost a shootout after that by four points after dropping 41 points and now they have two home games coming into the next stretch with the Detroit Lions and the Baltimore Ravens. The team was very good on Monday night and now they are looking at two road games after that with the Rams and the Vikings and the team has a tough stretch to finish the season as well, including more division games on the back stretch. Cutler was having a great season before getting injured and new head coach Marc Trestman has been doing an excellent job at keeping the offensive line going after four of five starters were replaced from last season.
Cutler has passed for over 1,600 yards this season with 12 touchdowns and Matt Forte has been a huge factor on offense with over 650 yards rushing as well as a ton of receptions and production in the passing game and he also has seven touchdowns already this season. The top two receivers in Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery have been excellent and very productive, as each has over 600 yards receiving, with Marshall over 50 catches and Jeffery with nearly 40. Cutler is the second leading rusher and that can always be an issue if the quarterback's name is not Robert Griffin, but the Bears appear to be playing better than they were last season.
The team finishes the season with a game against the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night football and then the team plays two on the road with the Cleveland Browns and the Philadelphia Eagles before playing the Green Bay Packers. That divisional game could be massive for the division and the NFC and the team now is playing at home against the Detroit Lions at Soldier Field.
