'Hard Knocks' will officially be returning after last year's lockout induced hiatus and the host team will be the Miami Dolphins.
If you find it amusing that arguably the most desperate team in the NFL was the club that finally granted HBO access to their 2012 training camp, you aren't alone. But frankly, the move makes sense
The Dolphins spent the early spring failing to lure free agents to their organization. HBO spent it failing to convince teams to appear on their show. It's science, really.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with "Hard Knocks," it follows a new team each season through training camp and the four exhibition games. On perhaps the only true form of reality TV currently available, players are singled out and featured as the weeks pass. The players who are competing for the final roster spots tend to receive significant attention and thus the cut-day episodes provide raw, legitimate drama.
The Dolphins prove an interesting choice for the series. The New York Jets were considered to be top Super Bowl contenders when they were featured on the latest edition of the series in 2010. The current Dolphins are certainly not in that position at this point in time and they certainly lack the star power that the '10 Jets wielded.
That said, the development of Ryan Tannehill and his battle for the starting job against David Garrard and Matt Moore will be a hot storyline. Reggie Bush is also likely to get some extensive time on camera.
