A huge trade may be going down in the MLB, as the Detroit Tigers and Texas Rangers are discussing a potential blockbuster deal with Prince Fielder and Ian Kinsler and the news comes from Jon Heyman at CBS Sports and would be a huge move in the American League and it appears the deal has been agreed to and will go through.
The Major League Baseball offseason usually takes some time to get hot and as teams position themselves to make moves, one club that should be in the middle of it all is the Texas Rangers, as reports say they could trade Elvin Andrus or Ian Kinsler and go after Jacoby Ellsbury, while the Red Sox and Carlos Beltran are getting serious and now a Texas Rangers Ian Kinsler Trade For Prince Fielder and Detroit Tigers Being Discussed.
According to Hardball Talk, the Rangers and GM Jon Daniels could be getting ready for some serious moves, as the team has been disappointed with the way the past couple seasons have ended. The team made it to back to back World Series and now has nothing to show for it and with Nelson Cruz a free agent, there is chance that the team could go big. Ian Kinsler and Elvis Andrus have been mentioned in trade talks this offseason, as has Jurickson Profar and the team could hang onto him and trade the others and there are reports that they are going after Brian McCann and Ellsbury as well.
The Rangers have money to spend and Daniels is the man in charge now and that could mean some big moves for the team, much like the deal years ago with the Braves that saw Mark Teixeira get moved for Andrus and others. Last season the team was expected to be a big player in the offseason, but that never materialized and now they have another chance. A report from the Dallas News says that the Yankees want McCann as well and that it could get into a battle between the two teams and that a trade at some point is likely.
Hardball Talk is also reporting that the Boston Red Sox and free agent Carlos Beltran are in serious talks and this comes after teams like the Yankees and the Orioles have shown interest in the Cardinals star. Beltran is getting up there in age, but a two year deal could be in the works and he should be one of the top free agents to sign. The Red Sox need more depth and power in the outfield and playing in the AL would allow him to play as the designated hitter at times as well.
Beltran declined the qualifying offer from the Cards, so they are covered and during his two years with the Cardinals he was very productive. Beltran has been solid in his postseason career and during those two seasons he hit over .280 with 26 home runs and 181 RBIs and he also had over 50 doubles and 160 runs.
