The NFC East is completely up for grabs. After having a strong hold on the division, Green Bay has slipped back and now it is really anyone's to win. The Packers and the Detroit Lions are fighting for position as they continue their rivalry on Thanksgiving Day.
The Week 13 matchup will be headlined by quarterback issues. The Packers will be starting Matt Flynn in place of the injured Aaron Rodgers. Since the quarterback has been out, the Packers are 0-3-1 after tying the Minnesota Vikings in Week 12. Head coach Mike McCarthy has ruled Rodgers out for this game, meaning Flynn will get his first start in a Green Bay uniform after two years away from the team.
The Packers are hoping Flynn can provide a spark for an offense that has averaged 18.0 points per game in the last four games. They were third in the league with 30.3 points while Rodgers was under center.
Detroit has lost nine straight Thanksgiving games, but this year they are the team to beat. along with Calvin Johnson, Nate Burleson will return to the field for his second game since injuring his arm. In Week 12, Burleson put up 77 yards off seven catches. Quarterback Matthew Stafford has been the one struggling as of late. He threw four interceptions last week after throwing just eight in the previous 10 games.
Thanksgiving games have certainly had their share of dramatics between these two teams. Games have been headlined by controversial plays. Defensive end Ndamukong Suh has struggled on Thanksgiving, getting multiple penalties. Both teams are determined to put this behind them and push forward with lead in the East.
