The UCF Knights are into the BCS after clinching a spot with a loss from Louisville on Thursday to the Cincinnati Bearcats and the team will try and end the regular season on a positive note, as they play against SMU at Gerald Ford Stadium in an American Athletic Conference game and the matchup could be an exciting one and will be live on ESPN and streaming from the WatchESPN website.
SMU comes in after dealing with an injury to productive quarterback Garrett Graham and that could play a big factor on Saturday and UCF would like to head into the postseason on a roll and they will likely be the underdog against whoever they face in the BCS, while SMU is looking to get themselves into a bowl game for the fifth straight season and the team is coming off of a tough shutout against Houston that saw backup quarterback Neal Burcham get his first start and he ended up tossing three picks in the game and now he could be under center again if Graham can't go.
The main reason for UCF's success has been the play of quarterback Blake Bortles, who has over 3,000 passing yards and 22 touchdowns this season and he is going to give the team a chance for success in their bowl game. The team has been solid overall on defense, allowing just 20 points per game and that will serve them well going forward and the team comes in ranked 27th in passing yards per game this season with nearly 300 per contest. The team has won seven games in a row and their only loss this season was against a ranked team in South Carolina and they also have a nice win over Louisville when they were ranked in the top 10 and the team now plays on the road against SMU to finish the season.
