The Heisman Trophy presentation will be broadcast live on ESPN on Saturday night and it appears that Jameis Winston will be the winner after leading Florida State to an undefeated season and he will be going up against a nice crop of candidates at the Best Buy Theater in New York City, including last year's winner Johnny Manziel as well as Jordan Lynch, AJ McCarron, Andre Williams and Tre Mason as the finalist candidates.
The award is looking like it will go to Winston after charges were not filed against him in the sexual assault case and he comes after setting records at Florida State with nearly 4,000 yards and he ended up with 38 touchdowns and he will be competing among six finalists for the first time in over a decade. Florida State is playing against Auburn in the national championship game after finishing the season undefeated and they will be in the VIZIO BCS National Championship game against Auburn after the Tigers defeated Missouri in the SEC championship game and Alabama in the Iron Bowl. Manziel has had another great season, while Lynch leads the candidates in touchdowns and yards with 46 scores and over 4,500 combined yards on the season.

Williams rushed for over 2,000 yards this season and was the first player to do that in years, while Manziel comes in looking to win his second straight Heisman after taking it as a redshirt freshman last season. Winston is that same level now and he had over 4,000 total yards and 42 touchdowns on the season and Mason comes in after having a breakout game in the SEC championship with over 300 yards and four touchdowns. Mason now has 2,137 total yards on the season with 23 touchdowns and he likely got into things from his SEC championship performance and the fact that many voters likely voted wondering about what would happen with Winston.
McCarron looked to have a great chance to win it after making a 99-yard touchdown pass to Amari Cooper and then of course Alabama lost to Auburn and changed everything and while McCarron likely is the best player of the bunch based on winning and past resumes, it's about this season for the Heisman and that is likely why Winston will win. The Seminoles had an undefeated season and Winston had a great year numbers wise and that is setting him up for a win. Florida State has been right there all season with Alabama in the BCS rankings and with Ohio State losing, the Seminoles moved into first place and Auburn moved up after they defeated Alabama and then took down Missouri in the SEC championship game and now two very talented teams will match up.
