The Los Angeles Lakers are going through a tough time when it comes to injuries and other issues and now that Kobe Bryant will be out for over a month and with Steve Blake, Jordan Farmar and Steve Nash already injured, the team signed Kendall Marshall rather than pulling off a trade for someone like Jameer Nelson or Goran Dragic.
According to Pro Basketball Talk, the Lakers signed Marshall to help with point guard depth and he comes in after being a top 15 pick for the Phoenix Suns in 2012. Marshall was traded to the Wizards with the Marcin Gortat deal and he was later waived following the trade and after playing well in the D-League he now is back in the NBA and while he is not Steve Nash or Kobe, he is a very solid option for the team as they try and get by with all the injuries they have been dealing with.
The Suns have been playing well with Goran Dragic and Eric Bledsoe in the backcourt and Marshall was moved before the season with Gortat. According to Yahoo Sports, Marshall was averaging 19.7 points and 9.6 assists per game for the Delaware 87ers of the NBA Development League and the Lakers also have Xavier Henry to use at the point guard position if they want. The Lakers are hanging on at 12-13 this season and they have a home matchup with the Timberwolves on Friday after dealing with a road trip.
The team is coming off of a win against the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday and then they play the second of a back to back on Saturday against the Golden State Warriors on the road.
