Chelsea finally confirmed the signing of Belgian Eden Hazard from Lille.
Hazard passed a medical in London on Monday and agreed personal terms, after Chelsea reportedly agreed a fee worth $50 million. The 21-year-old will earn around $250,000 per week.
"'I'm delighted to finally arrive here, it's a wonderful club and I can't wait to get started," Hazard said after his medical.
"'It's a dream come true for me. I can't wait to meet my new team-mates, the supporters and all the people who are involved.
"I want to play as many games as possible, score as many goals as possible and win a place in the hearts of the supporters.
"Ultimately, for a player it's all about winning things; I want to win as many trophies as possible, which is another reason why I came here as Chelsea have been winning things for a long time now, and I hope to win many more during my time here."
Hazard said he chose Chelsea over Manchester United and Manchester City, because he felt he would get more playing time at Stamford Bridge. The playmaker also admitted Chelsea's Champions League victory played a big part. "It's true that initially there were a number of clubs in for me, but when Chelsea won the Champions League I thought why not?
"It was a complicated decision with lots of different factors involved, but the fact that they have great players and are European champions, also coming to London, I know people here already and there are a few French speakers, I think I have made the right decision."
Hazard said former Chelsea player Joe Cole, who was with him at Lille last season, played a major role. "'I spoke to Joe Cole and what he said above all was that Chelsea was the right club for me. As somebody who loves the club himself, he said he could really see me in the shirt, so when I see him next I'll tell him he was right."
The Belgian could soon be joined by Brazilian Hulk after the striker hinted his time at Porto might be over. Hulk has long been linked with Chelsea, with a deal with Porto already believed to be in place. It is understood only a few finishing touches to the deal remain.
"I will always continue to work hard and keep my feet on the ground, regardless of whether I stay at Porto," Hulk told Lancenet.
"I have won many titles in the past four years at Porto, and I think that I have a great relationship with everyone. If the time has come to move on, I'll do so with a good feeling. I have enjoyed a great time here.
"I'm sure that they will understand the motives behind my decision if I leave. The club and its fans will forever have a place in my heart.
"I can only thank them for all the affection they've shown me."
Meanwhile, Chelsea are in the hunt for a new right back after releasing Jose Bosingwa and reported target Gregory Van Der Wiel admitted it would be hard to turn down the London club, if they came calling. "Yeah of course I would be interested, it is a beautiful club," Van der Wiel told Sky Sports News.
"I watch a lot of English football and they won the Champions League and it was a great performance.
""I didn't hear anything from my manager, I think it is just rumours and we will see in the future what comes."
Chelsea are also in the market for Fulham midfielder Moussa Dembele, but will face a fight with Manchester United and Arsenal. Dembele, who has just one year remaining on his contract, recently admitted nothing had been decided about his future, but was happy at Fulham.
