Dec 23, 2013 11:50 AM EST

The English Premier League table has a new team at the top for at least a few more hours, as Liverpool is leading the EPL standings over Manchester City, Arsenal, Everton and Chelsea before the Gunners and Blues play on Monday and comes after the team got a victory over the weekend behind some strong play from Luis Suarez.

Liverpool won over Cardiff City with two goals from Suarez and they now have a one point lead over Arsenal and Manchester City in the standings and that could be short lived depending on how things play out on Monday. The Reds are in front for now and Arsenal is ahead of Chelsea, who are one point behind Everton and two behind the Gunners and they would pull even with Liverpool with a victory on Monday at Emirates Stadium. The match starts up at 8 pm and is the biggest one of the week leading into the holiday and Boxing Day matches coming up.

The Premier League schedule will continue to stay busy heading into the holiday, as most clubs have three to four matches over the next couple weeks and the league table could look totally different come this time next week. Everton pulled ahead of Chelsea with their victory and now behind Liverpool is Manchester City and Arsenal in the top three spots, with Everton in fourth and the Blues in fifth position, while Newcastle is in sixth and Tottenham is in seventh place ahead of Manchester United in eighth place.

Saturday's matches saw Liverpool win in dominating fashion and they got two more goals from Luis Suarez, who has played some excellent football this season and continues to lead the EPL in scoring this season. The club got another goal from Raheem Sterling and Cardiff City could only muster one goal in the second half in the loss. Newcastle easily took down Crustal Palace after they lost to Chelsea and Manchester City took care of Fulham with goals from Yaya Toure and Vincent Kompany to start things off before Jesus Navas and James Milner also added goals.

Manchester United got a much needed win over West Ham and the team scored the first three goals of the match, including the third in two games from Danny Welbeck and Ashley Young also added a goal before Carlton Cole scored at the end for West Ham. Stoke City won over Aston Villa, while Sunderland and Norwich played to a draw. West Brom and Hull played to a 1-1 draw and on Sunday Southampton lost to Tottenham after the Spurs got two goals from Emmanuel Adebayor and Everton came out on top over Swansea City.
