The Dallas Cowboys pulled out a much needed game against the Washington Redskins on Sunday after Tony Romo was able to make some magic happen and now the quarterback will be out for the Week 17 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles for the NFC East division title with a back injury and he will be out for the season.
Romo and the Cowboys must win on Sunday at home to get into the playoffs and this is the third straight season that the team has the division title on the line in the final game of the season. Romo knew that he was injured after the game on Sunday but did not think it was serious and now that an MRI has shown the injury, he will be out for Sunday and that is a huge blow for the Cowboys.
Romo has not always been perfect in games like this, but he showed last week that he can pull the Cowboys out of tough situations and now he will be out for the game and this puts the Cowboys in an even tougher position. The Eagles dropped over 40 points on Sunday night and look very productive and the way the Cowboys defense is playing, it looks like there is no chance that the team can win now. The Eagles have plenty of weapons with Nick Foles and LeSean McCoy and now they have the advantage in the game, as Orton has barely played this season and with Romo out, the Cowboys will have to figure out a way to get things done.
"That triggered it a little bit," Romo said Sunday. "Whatever the kid did on that one play, it really sent something that didn't feel comfortable.
In other injury news from Reuters.com, the Broncos have lost linebacker Von Miller:
The playoff-bound Denver Broncos will mount their Super Bowl campaign without pass-rushing linebacker Von Miller, who suffered a torn knee ligament in Sunday's win over the Houston Texans, the NFL's website said on Monday.
An MRI test on Monday revealed the extent of the injury to Miller, who was injured in the first quarter of Denver's 37-13 victory in Houston, nfl.com reported.
Two-time Pro Bowler Miller, taken with the second overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, missed the first six games of the season due to a suspension for violating the NFL's drug policy but came back to register five sacks and 28 quarterback hurries.
The Broncos (12-3) clinched the AFC West title on Sunday and a first-round bye in the Super Bowl tournament and the Bengals made the postseason, as the Cincinnati Bengals have clinched a berth in the post-season after beating the Minnesota Vikings 42-14 on Sunday.
That result combined with Miami's loss to the Buffalo Bills assured the Bengals of a spot in the playoffs.
The Bengals will also clinch top spot in the AFC North if the Baltimore Ravens lose or tie against New England later on Sunday.
It will be Cincinnati's third straight appearance in the playoffs. (Reuters)
