The Brooklyn Nets have not gotten off to the start they expected after making a number of big moves in the offseason and now that the Christmas Day game is here against the Chicago Bulls, some reports have said there is a chance that Paul Pierce could get trade and may reunite with his former Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers with the Los Angeles Clippers.
Over the summer before the deal went down, some reports speculated that Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Rivers all would be going to Los Angeles, but NBA rules did not allow that to go down at the time, but now things could work out that way. According to Howard Beck from the NY Post, Pierce is an interesting trade chip because of his expiring deal and that could pave the way to a deal with the Clippers, as both teams could use a move, especially the Nets, as they are just 9-18 and hanging on with the Knicks in the Atlantic division. Pierce has struggled to find his role on the team so far this season and he is averaging just 12 points and five rebounds per game.
Jason Kidd has said that the team is coming close to accepting losing and they are coming into Christmas after losing to the Indiana Pacers in a tough game and another loss at the Barclays Center could spur the team into making a move. The Nets are not doing anything particularly well this season and they rank in the bottom half of the league in scoring, defense and rebounds per game. The team has had a ton of injuries so far this season and now they have lost Brook Lopez for the season and that is the type of injury that can change a team and a trade with Pierce could help the Lopez injury.
According to ESPN.com, the Nets have use 240 different lineups so far this season, which is way more than the winning teams in the league and while part of that has been due to injuries, it also shows that the team has had issues coming to together chemistry wise and that roles have not been totally figured out yet. Jason Kidd came in with a lot of excitement, but so far things have not worked out as planned. Pierce was just fined for clotheslining George Hill on a foul and that could be just the frustration mounting on the Nets and it came during another loss and on that game he was scoreless after missing all seven of his shots and it was the first time that happened to him since back in 1999.
