The Seattle Seahawks have been the best team in the NFC all season and with Week 17 coming against the St. Louis Rams at CenturyLink Field on Sunday on FOX with the game starting up at 4:25 pm in the NFC West matchup, Russell Wilson and company have the chance to wrap up home field advantage and the number one seed in the playoffs, but a loss could send the team to the fifth seed if the 49ers win.
Seattle had not lost a home game in two seasons before falling to the Arizona Cardinals last weekend and that also gave Wilson his first loss at home since coming into the league and makes this game against the Rams a must win if the team wants home field advantage for the playoffs. The Seahawks are the best team in the NFC, but one of the main reasons for that has been their play at home and if they have to go through the postseason on the road, that could greatly change their chances. The team has won big games on the road this year, including a victory against the Carolina Panthers to start the season and now that win looks great with the team in the number two spot right now and the Seahawks also won recently over the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium, which of course is where the Super Bowl will be this season.
The Seahawks are heading into the playoffs without Sidney Rice after he was injured a few weeks ago and there is a good chance that wide out Percy Harvin will miss the playoffs after coming back from hip surgery and that means even more pressure on Wilson as well as Doug Baldwin and Golden Tate. Wilson has been fantastic this season for the team and he is a winner and while the team has lost its first game at home in two seasons, that could end up being a good thing, as they now don't have that pressure of Wilson being undefeated at home through the playoffs and they come into the game against the Rams after a loss to the Steelers and they are 12-3 this season and two of their losses have come against divisional teams and now the team comes in ay 9-2 against the conference and they are looking to lock things up for the playoffs and for the number one seed.
The Seahawks come into the game ranked fourth in the league in rushing with Marshawn Lynch and they have nearly 140 yards per game on the ground and the team is ranked 26th in passing yards per game. The team opened the season with a nice road win against the Carolina Panthers and the team has a good enough defense that can keep them in any game. Wilson is the perfect quarterback for this team and he is just a winner and he has the chance to lead his team to the Super Bowl and they have had some amazing stretches this year and apart from the recent stretch of losing two of three games the team had a seven game losing streak and they started the season 4-0 and now they will have the chance to be a big factor in the playoffs.
