Tom Coughlin Fired? New York Giants Head Coach Safe Job Status Coming Monday After Win Over Redskins

The New York Giants started the season 0-6 and many credit head coach Tom Coughlin as the main reason why the team won four straight games and seven of their last 10 to finish 7-9 and as a number of coaches get fired on Black Monday, the Giants have not officially announced their plans yet for the head coach.

Most signs point to Coughlin staying, as the team finished strong and the team is not a franchise that usually makes moves like that, but at his age and the way the team players, it could be time for him to go. Coughlin was having none of that talk after the game on Sunday, saying he would not answer questions about his job status after the win over the Redskins and while he is 67 years old, Coughlin has a love for the game and he is determined not to walk away after a season like this.

Coughlin and Jerry Reese have won Super Bowls together and now the team comes in with the number 12 pick in the draft and their worst record since Coughlin took over in 2004. The team now comes into next year with Eli Manning getting older and after tossing 27 picks, the team has to find a way to cut down on those. The players have said they want Coughlin back and he seems eager to return, but after names like Mike Shanahan, Greg Schiano and Jim Schwartz got the boot, Coughlin could end up on the street as well despite two Super Bowl wins.

"Don't ask me that," Coughlin said gruffly. "I'm not answering that type of question right now. There'll be an evaluation of everything, I'm sure, and we'll go from there."
