Gylfi Sigurdsson has opened a move to Liverpool after claiming he is unlikely to sign for Swansea City.
Swansea had a club record $10 million fee accepted by Hoffenheim for Sigurdsson last week, subject to a medical from the player. Sigurdsson had a highly successful loan spell last season under Brendan Rodgers, however with Rodgers moving to Liverpool, the Icelandic international said he would not sign for Swansea, but remains keen on staying in the Premier League.
"It's just unclear at this moment where I will play," he told mbl.is in Iceland.
"I'd like to play on with Swansea since I was really happy there but after Brendan Rodgers left the club for Liverpool that changed the situation.
"I expect not to stay at Swansea because of the uncertainty going on there as it is not clear who is boss.
"I have said that my desire to continue playing in the Premier League and Liverpool is completely considered. Liverpool is a big club that has a glorious history.
"English Premier League is the platform that I want to be and hopefully is that I continue to play in that division."
Sigurdsson admitted he has kept in contact with Rodgers, even after the Northern Irishman moved to Anfield. "I got in touch with Brendan when he was appointed Liverpool manager.
"I wish him congratulations and thanked him for a great time at Swansea."
Joe Cole, who spent the whole of last season on loan at French club Lille, will stay with the Merseyside club in the coming season. Lille manager Rudy Garcia said: "Joe Cole will stay at Liverpool. The new staff has decided to keep him. We will keep very good memories of the player but also of the man."
According to Caught Offside, Rodgers is planning a move for Manchester City winger Adam Johnson. It is understood the Liverpool manager is planning a bid in the region of $25 million to persuade City to let go of the England player.
Liverpool's attempts to bring in Barcelona youngster Cristian Tello, however, will have to be put on hold after the Catalan club reportedly said the 20-year-old was not for sale.
Meanwhile, Dirk Kuyt, who will move to Fenerbahce next season after six years with Liverpool, thanked the Reds fans for their support. "I had a great time and I had great team-mates. The club was great, the people were great and the people from Liverpool -- the text messages, the phone calls, the e-mails, all the tweets I had on my Twitter account, it's unbelievable how much respect they showed me and it's also a bit emotional," Kuyt said.
"They wished me good luck and they said that they will miss me."
