Manchester United is out of the FA Cup in the third round for just the second time in the past 30 years and that has placed more pressure against manager David Moyes and Man U as the January transfer window comes and now players like Xabi Alonso, Alberto Herrera, Arturo Vidal, Dimitar Berbatov and others could be on the radar for the club.
According to ESPN FC, Moyes spoke with reporters after the FA Cup loss against Swansea City 2-1 over the weekend and making matters even worse, it was a home loss at Old Trafford, the fifth of the season and that has made Moyes' debut season even tougher to handle for fans and the club. The pressure from losing again may get the team active in the January transfer window and with Moyes's team sitting seven on the Premier League table, the chorus is mounting for improvements to the team.
Arturo Vidal from Juventus is an option for a transfer and according to reports, Man U will be getting funds to use during the window and after Ashley Young was injured they may need some more help and Sky Sports reports that the team is looking for a left-back and central midfielder and this comes as the team ponders whether using one-year extension clauses for Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra and that could make things interesting. Alonso is an interesting option after he was previously at Liverpool and he is 32 and could give the club a nice boost.
Moyes said: "There is an urgency that we would like to bring people in but are those players available in January? So there is no point in me hyping it up because the players we would like to bring in are probably not available, not because we don't want to do it."
